We had opportunities to visit few people in the neighborhood.
A girl with disability in Kitengela whom we managed to give a wheelchair. She had never owned a wheel chair and the mother had to carry her wherever she was travelling with her. Both mother and child were very happy with the gift and we thank God for allowing us to be a blessing in this manner.
We also had an opportunity to visit 2 children with disabilities in an area about 20km from our project. The exact name of the place is Birika. After the visit, we noticed that a proper assessment of their abilities had not been done and thus we coordinated this with the Kenya Institute of Special Education. Both kids got appointments for the assessment and we believe this will help the parents in providing better care.
In another area on your way to the Kenya Tanzania boarder Bisil, we visited another child that had only schooled to the pre-unit stage. She could not proceed to class one due to the disability and has stayed at home for several years. Her mother is separated with the husband and does casual jobs to provide for her family.
After identifying her needs, we gave her a Commode diapers and assorted clothes. We are also in the front line together with Maendeleo ya Wanawake representatives of the area to facilitate her going back to school.
We are so excited to be connected to some of the residents of Kajiado County who have a heart for persons with disabilities. May God bless them.
